General Description

A Tenor partbook from a set originally of five volumes. Copied by Johannes Heugel (d. 1585), court composer for Philip of Hesse, who also wrote KasL 4, 9, 24, 38, 43, 53a, 53b, 91, 94, 142, and part of KasL 143. Some motets are occasional pieces (see MGG VI, 342 for list of persons and events). Copied in Kassel, for the court of Count Philip of Hesse. Present Landesbibliothek incorporates holdings of former court library.

4 paper partbooks of an original 5 (A-101 folios, T-93, B-100, Q-95), 144 x 155. No foliation; original numbering of pieces, 1-89 ("30" omitted). Original parchment covers. No index. Copied by Johannes Heugel (d. 1585), court composer for Philip of Hesse, who also wrote KasL 4, 9, 24, 38, 43, 53/1, 53/2, 91, 94, 142, and part of KasL 143. No initials or decoration.
