General Description

Extract from printed works of Boethius (Venice, 1492), with manuscript polyphony on front flyleaves. These were probably added during 16th century, are of different, thicker paper than that used in print. Music on ff. [i'-ii'l, copied by a single scribe, probably Johannes de Guascogna. Probably copied in northern Italy. Original owner and scribe apparently Johannes de Guascogna (inscription 'Ad usum f. Johannes d. guascoa' at bottom of title page of print).

Printed extracts have original foliation, [155] + 156-222. Parchment covers cut from chant manuscript probably added in 16th century. Music on ff. [i'-ii'l, copied by a single scribe, probably Johannes de Guascogna (see below). Small inked initials. Watermark on flyleaves with music resembles Briquet #89 (JaenUL).
