General Description

A Discantus partbook from a set of four volumes. Each book consists of the prints RISM 1549/1 and RISM R1207, with manuscript additions. Nos 1-6 copied by a late 16th-century or early 17th-centruy scribe; nos. 7-8 copied by Cornelius Freundt. Copied in Zwickau.

Original covers of reddish brown leather, inscribed with initials of voice designations. No index. Copied by several scribes. Staff height 13-14. A few simple inked initials; some text in red ink. Watermark: sword and pike (not in Briquet).

Last third of 16th century (one piece dated 1575). Copied in Zwickau.
