4 paper partbooks, each consisting of the print RISM 1549/35, with manuscript additions (D-3 folios before print + 25 folios after print, A-3 + 30, T-3 + 29, B-3 + 30), 132 x 191. Modern pencil foliation. German sacred pieces appear at front of each book, preceding print; motets copied at beginning of section of mostly blank folios following print. Original parchment covers cut from earlier manuscript. No index. Copied by Johannis von Schännis (KmetzJ). Staff height 12-13. A few inked calligraphic initials. Watermark resembles Briquet #918.
1578-86 (KmetzJ). Copied in Zürich. Original owner and compiler was Johannis von Schännis (d. 1586), a prominent citizen of Zürich; Schännis purchased bound music print with additional blank folios in Speyer in 1578 (inscriptions in manuscript). Later owned by other members of Schännis family; passed to present library in 1629.
