General Description

The main scribe was Caspar Peschel of Bautzen, named in inscription on title page (f. 3); several additional scribes. Probably copied in Bautzen or Meissen. Sent by compiler, Caspar Peschel, to Meissen town council in 1559 (inscription on title page). Council apparently deposited manuscript in local school (inscription on f. 1: 'Der Stadtschule zu Meissen zugehörig / M.D.LIX.'). Acquired by Österreichische Nationalbibliothek at auction of Baron Doblhoff's estate, Vienna, September 1837.
