Blank folios, or blank staves only: 1, 25'-27, 54'-56, 77'-81, 88'-90, 115'-117, 145'-146, 180'-182, 216'-217'. Original covers of cream-colored leather over wooden boards, tooled with floral designs, date 1613, initials "PG," and portraits of Hesiod, Homer, Erasmus, Luther, and others. No index.
Copied by Leonhardt Franz, employed as scribe at court of Emperor Rudolf II 1586-99; Franz also wrote BrusC 27089 (ComberP) and VienNB Mus. 16693 (Call). Staff height ca. 28 and ca. 31. Inked calligraphic initials. Watermarks: (1) resembles Briquet #941; (2) resembles Briquet #2118; (3) resembles Briquet #925; (4) generally resembles Briquet #140-5; (5) resembles Briquet #2122.
1586-99 (ComberP). Copied in Prague, for use at court of Emperor Rudolf II (r. 1576-1612). Fascicles probably used separately until 1613, then bound together in present form at beginning of reign of Rudolfs successor, Matthias.
