General Description

The second of original set of two choirbooks containing music for double chorus, includng (inter alia) 3 sets of psalms for Sunday compline; first choirbook no longer extant. Copied by two (or possibly three or four) main scribes, who also wrote portions of TrevBC 7, 8, 9, 10, 11b, 13, 14, 16, 19, and several other TrevBC manuscripts; later additions by two different scribes. Copied in Treviso, for use by cathedral choir.

i + 59 + i paper folios, 500 x 365. Present manuscript is second of original set of two choirbooks containing music for double chorus; first choirbook no longer extant. Original ink and new pencil foliation, 1-58, with numerous errors, omissions, and inconsistencies. Original covers of cardboard, with parchment strips around edges. No index. Copied by two (or possibly three or four) main scribes, who also wrote portions of TrevBC 7, 8, 9, 10, 11b, 13, 14, 16, 19, and several other TrevBC manuscripts not within scope of this catalogue; later additions by two different scribes. Staff height 23. Inked calligraphic initials. Watermarks: (1) anchor in circle surmounted by six-pointed star, with initials "N C" (not in Briquet); (2) resembles Briquet #527; (3) three-peaked mountain in circle surmounted by cross (not in Briquet).
