General Description

Described as an 'average-sized' book covered in wooden boards. Copied in Treviso, for use by cathedral choir. Destroyed in 1944, but contents known from thematic catalogue made by chapter archivist Giovanni d'Alessi. No further information available.

Motets grouped by feast; copied in order of liturgical calendar. A group of 5 for 1st Vespers of Corpus Christi forms a unified cycle, and was transcribed by Alessi (copy in the Archivio Capitolare).

Bassus in gregorian notation. This and the following 4 motets form a unified cycle for 1st Vespers 'in festo Corporis Domini'; Pozzobon1990 suggests the composer 'may be tentatively identified as Antonio Spalenza', maestro di capella at Treviso from 1573 - or perhaps earlier, as Spalenza's 'Panis quem ego dabo' (f. 53v) is dated 1572.
