General Description

A Quintus partbook from a set originally of 6. Title (f.1) "Quinta vox der 10 Tomorum Leonarti Pamingeri sechste Teill". Music copied by a single scribe (possibly an autograph ms by Leonhard Paminger): index and some textual alterations by a second scribe. Of south German origin.

Paminger-28

1 paper partbook of an original 6 (Q-ii + 50 folios), 215 x 155. Modem foliation, 1-49 (omits one folio following f. 20). Original numbering of pieces, in two series: 1-10 + 1-19 (#4 of first series listed in index, but no corresponding music in manuscript). Blank folios: 1-1', 3-3', 15-18', 40'-49', and unnumbered folio following f. 20. Original?) covers of leather over boards, blind-stamped with religious motifs (Biblical scenes, portraits of Protestant reformers); inked voice designation "Quinta vox" apparently a later addition. Original index on ff. 2-2'. Music copied by a single scribe (Leonhard Paminger?): index and some textual alterations by a second scribe. Watermark: Gothic letter "P" with coat of arms of city of Augsburg or Kaufbeuren.

Mid 16th century. Of south German origin. In Nuremberg Staatsarchiv until 1894, then transferred to Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich.
