General Description

Probably copied by Ludwig Daser (BenteNW). Copied in Munich, for use by the Bavarian ducal court chapel of Wilhelm IV (1493-1550) or Albrecht V (1528-79). Kept in Hofkapelle library until end of 18th century, then transferred to ducal court library, whose holdings formed foundation of present Bayerische Staatsbibliothek.

Original numbering of Masses, 2-6 (first Mass not numbered, but included in enumeration). Original covers of discolored white leather over wooden boards, stamped with ornamental designs; binding and covers probably the work of Kaspar Schinnagl (BenteNW). Original index pasted inside front cover. Probably copied by Ludwig Daser (BenteNW); see general index for other manuscripts copied by the same scribe. Staff height 29.
