General Description

Copied by a single scribe ('Mary of Hungary's scribe' (GGTMontserrat)), who also wrote MontsM 769, MontsM 776, and ff. 66'-90 of MontsM 765. Copied in Brussels, at the court of Mary of Hungary (daughter of Philip the Fair and Juana of Spain), Regent of the Netherlands 1531-55. Subsequent history same as for MontsM 765; manuscript listed as #38 in both inventories of Philip II's books.

158 paper folios, 550 x 385. New pencil foliation, 1-158. Blank folios: 1, 28'-29, 52'-53, 72'-73, 95'-96, 114'-115, 130'-131, 143'-144, 158'. Rebound in new covers, but original brown leather spine preserved. No index. Copied by a single scribe, who also wrote MontsM 769, MontsM 776, and ff. 66'-90 of MontsM 765. Staff height 20. Titles in red and black ink; space left for decorative initials, but initials never added. Watermark (letter "P" with four-petalled flower) not in Briquet.
