General Description

A Discantus partbook from a set originally of five volumes. Copied by a single scribe, who also wrote parts of MilC 156. Copied in Mantua, for use at Gonzaga ducal chapel; eventually housed in Church of Santa Barbara, completed in 1565. Further on Santa Barbara collection under MilC 12.

2 paper partbooks of an original 5 (DB-7 + i folios each), 183 x 254. Original foliation in each book, I-VII. No covers. Original index on f. 1 of D book, with title "Motetti / Cantus a 5 Jacchetti." Copied by a single scribe, who also wrote parts of MilC 156. No decoration; space left for ornamental initials, but initials never added.

Mid 16th century, perhaps ca. 1540 (NugentJ). Copied in Mantua, for use at Gonzaga ducal chapel; eventually housed in Church of Santa Barbara, completed in 1565. Further on Santa Barbara collection under MilC 12.
