Copied by a single scribe. Sixteen pieces in present source use texts, melodies, found in latter. 'F F' = Françoise de Foix (see below); name 'Françoise' replaces original text in two pieces. Most likely resolution of second monogram is 'Anne,' perhaps referring to Anne of Brittany (whose motto 'Non mudera' begins texts of two pieces), or Anne de Montpensier, sister of Charles de Bourbon. Copied in France, for Françoise de Foix (1495-1537), cousin of Anne of Brittany, who married Jean de Laval-Montmorency in 1509, became official mistress of King Francis I in 1515. Perhaps commissioned for Françoise by Charles de Bourbon. Owners during 16th and 17th centuries unknown; book probably remained in France. Acquired in early 18th century by Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford (1661-1724). Subsequent history same as for LonBLH 1512.
