General Description

Printed material with manuscript sections. Printed section consists of tenor partbooks of RISM 1553/11, 1553/24, and 1553/25; manuscript section contains various parts (generally altus or tenor for vocal pieces, discantus for instrumental pieces). One scribe copied instrumental music; another copied vocal pieces. Some vocal pieces have text incipits only. Probably copied in Low Countries. Dutch inscription mentions 'Aurelia Aitsma.' Purchased by British Museum from Julian Marshall in 1881.
