General Description

Polyphony on parchment flyleaves, copied by a single scribe. Copied in Italy. Once owned by Giovanni Angelo Altemps (d. 1620), of Rome. Given to Pietro Vito Ottoboni (1610-91; Pope Alexander VIII after 1689). Donated by Ottoboni family to Pope Benedict XIV in 1748, and placed in present library.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 4: 15./16. Jh.; 69 Blätter Papier +2 Blätter Pergament, 150 x 110 mm. Foliierung des 17. Jh. von f. 1-69. - Einband: 18. Jh.; weiß-gelblicher Ganzlederband; Rücken mit Wappen Pius' VI. und Kardinalswappen der Facchinetti.

Diese aus der Bibliothek der Duci ab Altaemps stammende Handschrift des 16. Jh. enthält Juvenal-Satyren. Musik steht nur auf den 2 ursprünglich als Deckbll. dienenden, heute als Vorsatzblätter f. I und II vorn in die Handschrift gebundenen Pergament-Blätter. Die originale Foliierung f. 49 und f. 60 zeigt, daß es sich um ein äußeres Doppelblatt eines mindestens 6 Doppelblätter umfassenden Faszikels einer größeren Handschrift des frühen 15. Jh. mit mehrstimmigen Stücken handelt. Je Seite stehen 4 Fünfliniensysteme mit schwarzer Mensuralnotation.
