General Description

The main scribe was Jean Cornvaille (d. 1531), vicar of Cambrai Cathedral. Rubrics identify the feasts for which each hymn is to be sung. Many of the hymns in the manuscript may have been composed by Johannes Lupi. Copied at the cathedral in Cambrai

The main scribe was Jean Cornvaille (d. 1531), vicar of Cambrai Cathedral. Black inked calligraphic initials, sometimes tinted with a wash, decorated with grotesque faces, figures, and animals. Unidentified coats of arms on f. LIII (three fleurs-de-lis on a shield) and f. CV' (double-headed eagle with a crown). Rubrics identify the feasts for which each hymn is to be sung.
