General Description

Copied by Leonhardt Franz, employed as scribe at court of Emperor Rudolf II 1586-99; Franz also wrote VienNB Mus. 15951 (ComberP). Once in the library of Federico Olmeda de San José (1865-1909). Following Olmeda's death, the manuscript was offered for sale by Hiersemann Antiquariat in Leipzig; it was purchased in 1912 by the Brussels Conservatoire.

212 paper folios, 560 x 402. Modern pencil foliation by G. Van Doorslaer.

Second half of the 16th century. Provenance: Low Countries (?). Once in the library of Federico Olmeda de San José (1865-1909). Following Olmeda's death, the manuscript was offered for sale by Hiersemann Antiquariat in Leipzig; it was purchased in 1912 by the Brussels Conservatoire.

Original covers of cream-colored leather tooled with floral designs and "Spes," "Fides," "Caritas"; bronze bosses and clasps. No index. Date/provenance: 1586-99 (ComberP). Copied in Prague, for use at court of Emperor Rudolf II (r. 1576-1612). Later owned by Federico Olmeda de San José (1865-1909); purchased by Brussels Conservatoire in 1912 from Hiersemann Antiquariat, Leipzig.
