General Description

Polyphony on front and back flyleaves. These leaves, which are now glued inside front and back covers, are apparently the only surviving remnants of a Mass choirbook. Probably copied in northern Italy. Note in modern hand on first folio of main corpus indicates manuscript was once at Marienberg Benedictine monastery (near present Malles Venosta).

J. Legrant-1, Zacharia-1

21 parchment folios, 370 x 260 (monophony) + 2 parchment folios, 350 x 255 (polyphony), pasted inside front and back covers. Covers of tooled leather on wood. Monophony in chant notation; polyphony in black mensural notation.

Polyphony dates from the early 15th century; the main part of the manuscript contains the date 1263.
