General Description

Composite of many originally separate fascicles, gatherings, and individual folios later reordered in present form. Scribal concordances with BergBC 1207 and 1209; one of the scribes may have been Gaspar de Albertis. Common watermarks with BergBC 1207 and 1209.

Contains secondo coro parts of some double-choir pieces, of which primo coro is in BergBC 1207.

Copied in Bergamo, for use at Church of Santa Maria Maggiore; remained there until transferred recently to Biblioteca Civica.

135 + ii paper folios, 600 x 440. Modern pencil foliation. Original covers of parchment over pasteboard, badly decayed. No index. Scribal concordances with BergBC 1207 and 1209; one of the scribes may have been Gaspar de Albertis. Common watermarks with BergBC 1207 and 1209.

Completed ca. 1545 (date 1541 found on f. 124). Copied at Santa Maria Maggiore, Bergamo; remained there until transferred recently to Biblioteca Civica.

Copied by Gaspar de Albertis, who also wrote most of BergBC 1207 and BergBC 1209 (CrawGA). Staff heights 19, 24. Inked calligraphic initials. Watermarks: (1-2) anchor in circle, surmounted by six-pointed star (two different marks, neither in Briquet; both also found in BergBC 1207); (3) similar to Briquet #545; (4) resembles Briquet #6291; (5) bull's head (also found in BergBC 1207); (6) resembles Briquet #10681 (CrawGA).
