General Description

Composite of many originally separate fascicles, gatherings, and individual folios later reordered in present form; see CrawGA for discussion. Scribal concordances with BergBC 1208 and 1209; one of the scribes may have been Gaspar de Albertis.

Contains primo coro parts of some double-choir pieces, of which secondo coro is in BergBC 1208.

Copied at Santa Maria Maggiore, Bergamo (JepGA); remained there until transferred recently to Biblioteca Civica.

ii + 118 paper folios, 580 x 430. Modern pencil foliation. Modern covers. Scribal concordances with BergBC 1208 and 1209; one of the scribes may have been Gaspar de Albertis. Common watermarks with BergBC 1208 and 1209.

ii + 118 + ii paper folios, 560-80 x 400-30. Composite of many originally separate fascicles, gatherings, and individual folios later reordered in present form; see CrawGA for discussion. Modern pencil foliation, 1-118, replaces earlier, incomplete ink foliation. Rebound in modern covers, with metal bosses and clasps. No index. Main scribe identified on f. 100' as Gaspar de Albertis, who also wrote most of BergBC 1208 and BergBC 1209; two additional scribes, one of whom also wrote ff. 16'-26 of BergBC 1209 (CrawGA). Staff heights 17, 19, 24. Inked calligraphic initials. Watermarks: (1-3) anchor in circle, surmounted by six-pointed star (three different marks, none in Briquet; some also found in BergBC 1208); (4) anchor in circle, surmounted by unidentified design; (5) similar to Briquet #545; (6) resembles Briquet #6291; (7) bull's head (also found in BergBC 1208); (8) flower with eight petals (also found in BergBC 1209); (9) crossbow? (CrawGA).
