General Description

Polyphony on fols. 19v-21r and 95r; scribal concordance with the Squarcialupi Codex (FischPF). Produced in the scribal workshop of S. Maria degli Angeli, Florence, on commission of Rector Antonius Bartholi, for the church of S. Lucia de Magnolis, Florence. The manuscript passed from the collection of Count B. Boutoutlin to the Biblioteca Laurenziana in 1880.

  1. Jh.; 114 Blätter Pergament + je 1 Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblatt Papier, 560 x 400 mm. Originale Foliierung von f. I-LXXXXVI + 18 Blatt ohne Foliierung. Je Seite meist 6 rote Vierliniensysteme (f. 19v-21r zum Teil 5 Sechsliniensysteme) mit Quadratnotation (f. 19v-21r u. 95r zum Teil schwarze und schwarz/rote Mensuralnotation). - Einband: 19. Jh.; Karton mit rotem Lederrücken.

Diese Handschrift wurde 1423/24 im Auftrag des Rektors Antonius Bartholi für die Kirche S. Lucia de Magnolis in Florenz geschrieben. Hergestellt wurde sie in der Schreiberwerkstatt von S. Maria degli Angeli in Florenz. 1880 gelangte sie aus der Sammlung des Conte B. Boutourlin in die Biblioteca Laurenziana. Mehrstimmig sind nur zwei Stücke.

Inhalt: f. l-3r Lektionen und Passio S. Lucie (Text); f. 5-30 S. Lucia: Offizien und Messe; f. 30V-33v Hieronymus Hymnen und Lektionen; f. 34-53v Corpus Christi: Offizium und Messe; f. 54-77 Weihnachtsoffizium und Messe; f. 78-83v Osteroffizium und weitere Offiziums- und Meßgesänge; f. 91-96v Marienoffizien; ab f. 97r jüngere Hand: Popule meus und weitere Meßgesänge.

[Translation] 114 parchment folios + 1 flyleaf and endpaper which are paper, 560 x 400 mm. Original of foliation f. I-LXXXXVI + 18 folios without foliation. The pages usually have 6 red four-line systems (f. 19v-21r have 5 six-line systems), with square notation (f. 19v-21r and 95r show some black and black/red mensural notation). Cover: 19th Century; box with red leather spine.

This manuscript was commissioned by the 1423/24 rector Anthony Bartholi for the church of S. Lucia de Magnolis written in Florence. It was made in the writing workshop by S. Maria degli Angeli in Florence. In 1880 it came from the collection of the the Conte B. Boutourlin to the Laurentian Library. There are only two polyphonic pieces.

The polyphony is in black and black/red mensural notation; the manuscript also contains monophonic Masses, Offices, lessons, etc., in chant notation. Scribal concordance with the Squarcialupi Codex (FischPF). Illuminated initials and decorations.
