General Description

Graduale, with polyphony on new ff. 244'-245', 246', 248'-249, 250, 281. Copied in Prague; commissioned by Magdalena od Zlaté Hvëzdy (inscription on new f. 415). Belonged to brotherhood of singers in Prague; acquired by Prague University Library in late 18th century.

RISM Description

RISM BIV/3: 16. Jh.; 415 Blätter Pergament + 2 Vorsatz- und 3 Nachstoßblätter Papier, 570 x 370 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-415 (jedes 10. Blatt mit Bleistift bezeichnet); originale Foliierung von A I-XXIV bis W XXV. Je Seite meist 8 oder 9 rote Fünfliniensysteme mit böhmischer Choral- und schwarzer Mensuralnotation mit böhmischen Elementen. - Einband : 16. Jh. ; mit dunkelbraunem Leder überzogener Holzdeckel, Blindpressung.

Diese Handschrift, ein böhmisches Graduale, wurde 1576 auf Kosten der Prager Alt-stadtbürgerin Magdalena od Zlaté Hvězdy (Magdalena vom Goldenen Stern) geschrieben (vergleiche f. 415) und gehörte dann einer Gesangsbruderschaft. Eine Erneuerung der Handschrift wurde 1646 vorgenommen. Seit Ende des 18. Jh. befindet sie sich in der Universitätsbibliothek Prag.
