i + 392 paper folios, 405 x 270. Present manuscript is Pars hiemalis of two-volume Cantionale; MS XVII A 31 in this library is Pars aestivalis (no poly-phony in latter manuscript). Modern foliation, 1-390, excludes front flyleaf and two blank folios; original foliation, A I-XX and B I-III. Present covers of white leather over wooden boards dated 1597. Monophonic contents in Bohemian chant notation on red staves; polyphony on front flyleaf and new ff. 58-83, 373-374', copied in white mensural notation.
1567 (main corpus, including polyphony); additions in 1596 and 1611 (dates in manuscript). Copied in Prague, for use by brotherhood of singers in city's New Town district. In Prague University Library since late 18th century.
