General Description

This manuscript is the first part of the Graduale of Matous Radous (HradKM 13b is the second part). Matej Litomëricky is the main scribe; five additional scribes (two c. 1660, three from the 18th century, including Josef Pader in 1791). . From the collection of a confraternity of literati at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Hradec Králové.

RISM BIV/3: 16. Jh.; 422 Blätter Pergament + je 1 Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblatt Pergament, 590 x 413 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-422. Je Seite 9 rote Fünfliniensysteme mit böhmischer Choralnotation (zum Teil mit mensuralen Elementen), schwarzer und vereinzelt weißer Mensuralnotation — Einband: 1584; mit Schweinsleder überzogene Holzdeckel, gut erhaltene Beschläge und Schließen (restauriert 1838).

Die mit prächtigen Miniaturen und ganzseitigen Illuminierungen ausgestattete Handschrift ist bekannt als Graduale (1. Teil) des Matous Radous (Illuminator und Maler aus Chrudim).Sie wurde, wie auch der 2.Teil (CS-HKII A 13b), zwischen 1585 und 1604 für die utraquistische Literatenbruderschaft der Heiliggeist-Kirche von Hradec Králové geschrieben. Die Nachträge reichen zum Teil bis ins 18. Jh. hinein.
