RISM BIV/3: 16. Jh.; 367 Blätter Pergament, 655 x 427 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-367; originale Foliierung (ab moderne f. 48): A I-XV und so weiter bis Y VI (= moderne f. 367); es fehlt Blatt Y V. Je Seite 9 oder 10 rote Vierliniensysteme bei einstimmigen, Fünfliniensystemen bei den meisten mehrstimmigen Stücken. Böhmische Choralnotation, zum Teil mit mensuralen Elementen, sowie schwarze und vereinzelt weiße Mensuralnotation - Einband: 16. Jh.; mit weißem Schweinsleder überzogene Holzdeckel mit schweren Messingbeschlägen.

Diese Prachthandschrift, das sogenannte Franus-Kantional, ist ein fast ausschließlich lateinisch geschriebenes Teilgraduale, das 1505 fertiggestellt und von Johannes Franus der Kathedralkirche Sv. Ducha (Heiliggeist) in Hradec Králové geschenkt worden ist (vergleiche f. 1v : „Anno ab incarnatione Christi ultra mille et quingentos quinto, sexta Idus Novembris die quinta … industrius vir Dominus Joannes cognomine Franus arte pannifex, civis in urbe Grecreginae [Hradec Králové] degens sua et opera et inpensa hoc memoratissimum propeque horrendum voluminis opus in templum Spiritus sancti quinquaginta quinque Pragensium grossorum sexagenis comparavit …“). Die wundervollen Miniaturen stammen vermutlich von Janíček Zmilelý z Písku. Noten und Text sind von mindestens zwei verschiedenen Händen (vergleiche Schriftwechsel f. 302 und 311) eingetragen worden. Das mehrstimmige Repertoire - wenn auch hier besonders reich überliefert - ist das in den böhmischen Gradual-Kantionalia übliche. Besonders eng sind die Verbindungen zum 25 Jahre jüngeren Graduale von Chrudim (CS-CH) und vor allem auch zum zweiten Teil (dort ab p. 428) des im vorliegenden RISM-Band nicht aufgenommenen Cod. Speciálnik (CS-HK II A 7, ohm 3955) ; vergleiche hierzu OrelF, 148ff.
