General Description

A gradual for the Salzburg rite (f. l-63v) and antiphonary (No. 64-121). The polyphony is only on the endpaper (i.e. the very last paper leaf). The present recto page may originally have been the verso.

RISM BIV/3: 15. Jh.; 121 Blätter Pergament + je 1 Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblatt Papier, 276 x 180 mm. Moderne Foliierung von f. 1-121; originale Foliierung von f. XIII-CLVIII (mehrere Blätter fehlen). Je Seite wechselnde Zahl von roten Vierliniensystemen mit gotischer Choralnotation - Einband: 15. Jh., aus Graz oder Vorau; mit weißem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel; Bibl.-Signatur des 18. Jh. (?): CCXXXVIII.

Diese Handschrift ist ein Graduale Salisburgense (f. l-63v) und Antiphonar (f. 64-121) des 15. Jh. Sie wurde wahrscheinlich in Vorau geschrieben. Das Nachstoßblatt, das allein Mehrstimmiges enthält, zeigt 8 Vierliniensysteme mit gotischer Choralnotation, Oberstimme schwarz, Unterstimme rot. Die jetzige Recto-Seite dürfte ursprünglich Verso-Seite gewesen sein.

[Translation] 15th century, parchment, 121 leaves + 1 paper flyleaf and endpaper, 276 x 180 mm. Modern foliation of f. 1-121; original foliation of f. XIII CLVIII (several pages missing). Each side has a varying number of red four-line systems with gothic chant notation. Binding: 15th century, from Graz or thereabouts, wood boards covered with white leather, library stamp of the 18th Century (?): CCXXXVIII.

This manuscript is a Salzburg gradual (f. l-63v) and antiphonary (No. 64-121) of the 15th century, but may have been copied earlier. The polyphony is only on the endpaper, and uses 8 four-line systems in gothic chant notation, upper part black, lower part red. The present recto page may originally have been the verso.
