General Description

Manuscript addition to collection of non-musical prints. All treatise material copied by a single scribe. Probably of Austrian origin. Early, perhaps original owner was Georg Preyscheuch, of Stein (inscription inside back cover: '1554 Jar / Dum Georgii Preyschuch / Stain austriaci … '). Came to present location from Jesuit library in Linz.

[39]/40 not numbered or counted in enumeration). New ff. 5, 7-7', 20', 28, and 50-[55] are blank. Original covers of wooden boards, with spine of white stamped leather; leather ties and brass clasps. Monophonic examples in Gothic Hufnagel notation; polyphonic examples in white mensural notation. All treatise material copied by a single scribe. No initials or decoration.
