General Description

Recovered from binding of l6th-century book from town of Vysoké Myto. Apparently the only surviving remnants of a larger musical manuscript. Polyphony on new ff. 5, 9-16, 23, 24', 26-28, 29'-30, 31'-33, 34-34'. (Among the monophonic pieces is a Czech song on 16', St Matthew Passion on ff. 17-22'.) Copied by several scribes. Copied in Bohemia.

Several different watermarks. An oxhead (ff. 2, 4, dated 1458-1460); oxhead with flower & cross (f. 16, 20, dated 1450); a tower (f. 11, similar to a mark of c. 1446); oxhead with flower & triangle (f. 30, 34 similar to one from 1455) (GancCI).
