General Description

Copied by Friedrich Lindner, who also wrote BerlDS 40023, NurGN 8820B, NurGN 8820Q, NurLA 33, and NurLA 224 (see RubIC and ButlerLM). Copied in Nuremberg, for use at the Church of St. Egidien. Commissioned by Nuremberg city council; prepared under direction of Friedrich Lindner (ca. 1542-1597), cantor at St. Egidien, and Hieronymus Paumgartner, Jr., council administrator for church affairs. Moved to Lorenzkirche in late 19th century; later transferred to Nuremberg Stadtbibliothek, then to Landeskirchliches Archiv.

Original covers of light brown tooled leather over wooden boards, with brass clasps, edges, and bosses. Front covers stamped with letter 'K' and medallion incorporating arms of city of Nuremberg and arms of Paumgartner family. Back covers stamped with representation of St. Egidien ministering to a wounded roe.
