General Description

A Discantus partbook from a set originally of six volumes. Copied by several scribes. Copied in Liegnitz ( = Legnica), for use in the court chapel of Georg Rudolf, Duke of Liegnitz (1595-1653), an amateur musician and collector of music. Ducal library ('Bibliotheca Rudolfina') housed in Johanniskirche in Liegnitz until 1698, then transferred to nearby ducal palace. In 1741, it was incorporated into the library of the Königliche Ritter-Akademie.

Biblioteca Narodowa (PL-Wn) holds only the tenor from the set. (PL-Wn Mus. 2106). Other parts missing before 1878 (V 5, V 6) and after 1945 (S, A, B)
