General Description

Troper, closely related to I-AO19. Contains several settings of the Mass Proper and Ordinary, Benedicamus tropes, responsories, Latin-French carols and similar. According to HusmannRISM, 166 it was written for the cathedral, according to Fischer possibly for the Collegiate church of S. Orso in Aosta. The polyphony is found only in some of the Benedicamus tropes. Numbers 1-5 are in score. Contents: f. lv-4v (later added leaves) Credo, Laudes deo dicamus; f. 5r-38r (original f. I-XXXIV) sequences, f. 38v-51v (original f. XXXIVv-XLVIIv) Kyriale (10 Ordinary cycles), f. 51v-58r (original f. XLVIIv-LIVr) Liber generationis, Exultet, Alleluia and Tractus; f. 59r-63v carols (some mixed language), f. 64r-71v Benedicamus collection f. 72r-83v responsories f. 84v/85v Patrem, Benedicamus.

RISM B/IV 4: 14. Jh.; 85 Blätter Pergament. + moderne Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter, 275 x 180 mm Moderne Bleistiftfoliierung von f. 1-85 sowie originale Foliierung von f. I-LIIII (= moderne f. 5-58); ferner Foliierung des 16. Jh. (?) von f. 4-83 (= moderne f. 6-85) und Faszikelbezeichnungen. Je Seite meist 10 oder 11, bei mehrstimmigen Stücken 8 rote Vierliniensystemen mit Quadratnotation, (f. 59-63 zum Teil mit mensuralen Elementen). - Einband: modern restauriert; Holzdeckel mit Lederrücken und Schließen.

Diese mit I-AO19 eng verwandte Hs. des 14. Jh. enthält mehrfach tropierte Gesänge zum Proprium und Ordinarium Missae, Benedicamus-Tropen, Responsorien, lateinisch-französische Weihnachtslieder und ähnlich Sie wurde nach HusmannRISM, 166 für die Kathedrale, nach v. Fischer vielleicht auch für die Kollegiatskirche S. Orso in Aosta geschrieben. Mehrstimmig sind nur einige Benedicamus-Tropen. Die Texte (nicht die Noten) der Oberstimmen sind mit roter Farbe geschrieben. Nr. 1-5 zeigen Partiturnotation

[Translation] 85 parchment folios. With modern front and back flyleaves, 275 x 180 mm. Modern pencil foliation 1-85 as well as original foliation of f. I-LIIII (= modern f. 5-58); also foliation of the 16th Century (?) on f. 4-83 (= modern f. 6-85) and fascicle markings. Each page contains usually 10 or 11 staves, in polyphonic pieces 8 red four-line systems with square notation (f. 59-63 partially mensural elements). - Binding: Modern restored; wooden boards with leather spine and clasp.
