General Description

A Processionale probably from the Cathedral of Verdun, or from the Benedictine Abbey of St. Paul (Verdun). It was, as entries on the last leaf suggest, still in use in the 16th century. Contents: f. 1ff. Masses for the high festivals, f. 112-118 Kyriale; f. 119-178r Sequentiary; f. 178v Officium defunctorum among others.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 3: 14. Jh.; 190 Blätter Pergament, 164 x 115 mm Originale Foliierung von f. 1-114, dann moderne Foliierung von f. 116-190. Je Seite meist 9 (beim zweistimmigem Stück 8) rote Vierliniensysteme (ausnahmsweise 5 Linien) mit gotischen Neumen. - Einband: ursprüglich mit Kalbsleder überzogene Holzdeckel; jetzt jüngerer Einband.

Diese Handschrift, ein Processionar wohl noch des 14. Jh., stammt vermutlich aus der Kathedrale von Verdun oder aber aus der Benediktiner-Abtei St. Paul (Verdun). Sie wurde, wie dies Eintragungen auf dem letzten Blatt erkennen lassen, noch im 16. verwandt.

Inhalt: f. 1ff. Messen für Hauptfeste; f. 112-118 Kyriale; f. 119-178r Sequentiar; f. 178v Officium defunctorum unter anderem.

[Translation] 190 parchment leaves, 164 x 115 mm. Original foliation f. 1-114, then modern foliation on f. 116-190. Each page usually contains 9 (the two-voice pieces 8) red four-line systems (sometimes 5 lines) with Gothic Neumes. - Binding: original with calfskin covered wood; now newer cover.
