General Description

The MS was first described by GP Köllner and is a Cantatorium for mass worship. It was probably in use in the Church of Our Lady of Mainz around the middle of the 15th Century, where it remained until the middle of the 18th Century.

RISM B IV/3: 15. Jh.; 80 Blätter Pergament, 304 x 215 mm. Originale Foliierung von f. I-LXXIV (die ersten 4 und die letzten 2 Blätter ohne Fol.). Je Seite 7 Vier- oder Fünfliniensyst. mit gotischer Choralnot. ; f. 9v/10r und 68v/69r 4 beziehungsweise 6 Vier- oder Fünfliniensysteme mit schwarzer Quadrat- und weißer Rhomben-Notation. - Einband: mit Schweinsleder überzogene Holzdeckel mit Renaissance-Ornamenten (vermutlich späterer, zweiter Einband).

Die von G. P. Köllner erstmals beschriebene Handschrift ist ein Cantatorium für den Meßgottesdienst. Sie wurde um die Mitte des 15. Jh. geschrieben und blieb bis in die Mitte des 18. Jh. vermutlich in der Liebfrauenkirche von Mainz in Gebrauch.
