General Description

A Graduale produced for the 'Choro Pro Friburgensi Sacri Ordinis Fratrum Praedicatorum' (p. 1) by various composers of the 2nd half of the 15th century. It is thought to have been in use by the choir there up until the 17th century. The only polyphony is a Kyrie. Contents: p. 1-4 Doxologie, Vidi aquam; p. 5-268 proprium; p. 269-316 Commune Sanctorum, p. 317-331 Ordinaries; p. 332-408 Sequentiar and individual ordinary and mass proper movements; p. 409-412 Registers.

RISM B IV/3: 15. Jh.; 204 Blätter Pergament + 4 Blätter Papier + Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblatt, 445 x 310 mm. Pag. vom Schreiber des Registers von p. 1-408; ältere Foliierung von f. I-CLVII (= p. 5-316); Moderne Bleistiftpag. der Papier-Blätter (p. 144a-d und 409-412). Je Seite 10 rote Vierliniensysteme (p. 380 zum Teil Fünfliniensysteme) mit Quadratnotation - Einband: 16. Jh. (?); mit weißem Leder überzogene Holzdeckel, Beschläge, Schließen.

Dieses von verschiedenen Händen der 2. Hälfte des 15. Jh. geschriebene Graduale war "Pro Choro Friburgensi Fratrum Sacri Ordinis Praedicatorum" (p. 1) bestimmt, wo es vermutlich bis ins 17. Jh. im Gebrauch gewesen ist. Mehrstimmig ist nur ein Kyrie.
