General Description

'Liber generationis' setting on ff. 7'-11. Copied in Paris, for Cluniac priory of St. Martin des Champs (CorbinR). Owned in 15th century by Philippe de Morvilliers (d. 1438) and his wife, Jeanne du Drac (d. 1436) (coats of arms on f. 1). Later part of personal library of Cardinal Jules Mazarin (1602-61); collection under direction of Institut de France since 1945.

RISM Description

RISM B/IV 3: 15. Jh.; 211 Blätter Pergament + je 5 Vorsatz- und Nachstoßblätter Papier, 300 x 195 mm. Modellierte Bleistiftfol. von f. 1-11; anschließend originale Foliierung von f. I-CC. Je Seite 7 rote Vierliniensysteme mit Quadratnotation; f. 7v-11 Fünfliniensysteme mit teilweise weißer Mensuralnotation (siehe Incipitverzeichnis). - Einband: mit karmesinrotem Sammet überzogene Holzdeckel; Spuren von Beschlägen.

Das Hauptcorpus dieser Handschrift (f. I-CC) ist ein Evangeliar aus der ersten Hälfte des 15. Jh. (vor 1436). Hier finden sich an musikalischer Notation nur einstimmigen Genealogien und Exultet. Dem Hauptteil vorangestellt ist ein etwas jüngerer Faszikel (f. 1-11), der von f. 1-7v Gesänge zur Benedictio fontium und von f. 7v-11 die Weihnachts-Genealogie nach Matthäus enthält (Einstimmiges in Choralnotation, Mehrstimmiges in weißer Mensuralnotation).

"Liber generationis" setting on ff. 7'-11 includes monophonic sections copied in chant notation and polyphonic sections in white mensural notation.

Early 15th century (ff. I-CC); fascicle with polyphony (ff. 1-11) added to main corpus before 1436. Copied in Paris, for Cluniac priory of St. Martin des Champs (CorbinR). Owned in 15th century by Philippe de Morvilliers (d. 1438) and his wife, Jeanne du Drac (d. 1436) (coats of arms on f. 1). Later part of personal library of Cardinal Jules Mazarin (1602-61); collection under direction of Institut de France since 1945.

211 folios in total plus 5 paper flyleaves. Modern foliation 1-11, then old foliation I-CC. Corpus is Evangeliary (f.I-CC) of 1436. Folios 7-11 have 5-line staves.
