Le Bassus 1 porte les noms d'auteurs en tête des pièces, pas toujours en accord avec ceux donnés à la table du Cantus 2. Reliures anciennes de parchemin, liens de cuir.

Casimiri, et après lui d'Alessi, datent le ms. du premier quart du XVIe s., mais N. Böker Heil a relevé dans les motets nos 3 et 6 des allusions évidentes au pape Clément VII, ce qui permet de situer la copie plus exactement entre 1523 et 1534. Le filigrane (ancre à 2 branches dans un cercle surmonté d'une étoile à 6 pointes) se retrouve sur des papiers employés dans le nord de l'Italie dans la 1ère décennie du XVIe s. On distingue 3 groupes d'oeuvres dans le ms.:

I. 1 messe et 5 motets à 7vx.

II. 19 motets à 8, 9 et l0vx. -

III. 5 psaumes pour les Complies, de Santacroce, et messe de Ruffini, en style de coro spezzato. Pour Turrini, il s'agirait le plus souvent pour les groupes I et II, de motets transformés de 7 à l0vx. par des musiciens locaux à partir de motets franco-flamands à 4vx. Il est possible que Nicolo Olivetto, nommé maître de chapelle à la cathédrale de Vérone en 1538, venant de Trévise où il avait succédé à Francesco Santacroce (Francesco Patavino), ait apporté avec lui le ms. 218 où l'on trouve justement des oeuvres de Santacroce dans lesquelles celui-ci emploie le procédé à 2 choeurs (coro spezzato) alors encore très nouveau (n°5 26 à 30).
