General Description

An Altus II partbook from a set originally of 12 volumes: D1, A1, T1; A2, B2; D3, A3, T3, B3 survive. Probably copied in Rome (LockCR). Original owner and compiler possibly Pompeius Paterius, named at beginning of each book.

The B1, Q, and S books are believed to have been in the Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio in Rome until at least c. 1958. They are described by LockCR, 321, as being in the 'Convento dei Padre Filippini' [= Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio], but these have now been removed; their present location is unknown. However, the four partbooks listed by LockCR as missing (i.e., D3, A3, T3, and B3, containing parts for the àl2 works) have subsequently been located; they are now preserved in the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale Vittorio Emanuele II.

They are described by LockCR, 321, as being in the "Convento dei Padre Filippini" [= Archivio della Congregazione dell'Oratorio].
