General Description

First three folios copied by a single scribe; fourth leaf copied by a different hand. Copied in Mantua. Part of large collection of printed and manuscript music assembled and used by Gonzaga ducal chapel during 16th century; eventually housed in Church of Santa Barbara, completed in 1565.

Jaquet of Mantua? ["Jacchetti," later crossed out]-1 + 2 fragments, anon-1 fragment

4 paper folios, 183 x 249, preserved unbound in modern paper wrapper as part of miscellaneous collection of manuscript music (29 items, numbered III. 29-57; III. 42, described here, is only item within scope of this catalogue). No foliation or pagination. First three folios copied by a single scribe; fourth leaf copied by a different hand. Three inked initials on verso of fourth leaf; no other decoration.

Last third of 16th century? Copied in Mantua. Part of large collection of printed and manuscript music assembled and used by Gonzaga ducal chapel during 16th century; eventually housed in Church of Santa Barbara, completed in 1565. Collection transferred to Conservatory of Music in Milan in 1851. Temporarily evacuated during World War II; subsequently placed in rebuilt Conservatory library building.
