General Description

Copied by a single scribe. Possibly copied in Lincoln (BaillieYM). Incorporated in binding of volume of Consistory Court Acts sometime in the sixteenth century; deposited in Diocesan Registry, York. Music folios were recovered from binding c. 1940 by Rev. Dr. J. S. Purvis, and later deposited in Borthwick Institute of Historical Research. Originally 46 folios.

22 paper folios of an original 46?, ca. 400 x 282, recovered from book binding (see below). Many folios now fragmentary; some stained by water, but most extant music still legible. New pencil foliation, 1-22. Rebound in 1970 in modern covers of brown cloth over pasteboard, but portion of earlier parchment cover preserved. No index remains. Copied by a single scribe. Staff height 20. No initials or decoration.

Ca. 1490-1515 (BaillieYM). Possibly copied in Lincoln (BaillieYM). In late 16th century, folios removed from original context and incorporated in binding of volume of Consistory Court Acts deposited in Diocesan Registry, York. Music folios recovered from binding ca. 1940 by Rev. Dr. J. S. Purvis; later deposited in Borthwick Institute of Historical Research.
